A disturbing aspect of the gravestones is the number of women who died young, probably in childbirth. One such case was the death of Catherine Bayly ne Yates of Debsborough, in 1833. She had married John Bayly (DL, JP, High Sheriff 1845) four years previously and had one son, John. She was only 23 years old at the time of her death. That same year, her sister, Sarah, while staying at Debsborough produced a series of drawings of Ballinaclough. One wonders, in what circumstances did she create such simple but charming images. Were they sketched before or after her sister's death? Whatever the case, she would always remember that visit to Ireland, and Ballinaclough. The Yates family home was in Bury, Lancaster.

Catherine married John BAYLY, son of John BAYLY and Mary Elizabeth Helena UNIACKE, on 12 May 1829 in Saint Mary, Bury, Lancashire, England. (John BAYLY was born on 3 Sep 1805 and died on 14 May 1865.)
