This genealogy website presents all the information available to me on all
branches of my family; It is amusing to browse through, but can be very
confusing, and one can get easily lost...
There are 3 main folders: One is specific to the Ferran-Fiechter side of my
family (my parent's line); Another is specific to my wife's family, the
Graham-Thomas line, and the third one regroups all of the information on both
families, i.e. my children's pedigree, but is not updated as often as the
others.
Should you get lost, the "Home" button will always bring you back to the
start!
There are also 5 "books" tracing the history of the various branches of the
family; these are an easier introduction to the genealogy, intended for non-specialists
and the young generations.
The Ferran and Persohn families have been thoroughly researched and are fully
documented. The work is still going on.
For the Ochanoff and Goilov families, I have worked on documents obtained and
translated from the Republic of Moldova, and also on family papers.
The part of the website related to the Graham ancestors is very accurate for
the first generations, but could be seen in places as a canvas. Some distant
ancestry as found in the Evans pedigree or Welsh legendary figures are obviously
impossible to prove or disprove, but are still included in the family tree.

Where we started the research:
The Ochanoff (Ohanov) family traces its ancestors to Isaie
Ochanoff, born in Charurnin, Armenia (now part of Azerbaijan), in 1657. He emigrated to Moldavia
(then part of the Ottoman Empire) where the family settled.
His descendants did quite well in the Armenian
community of what became known as Bessarabia (now split between the Ukraine,
Romania, and the Republic of Moldova). They owned large tracts of land
(over 20,000 Hectares),
mostly in Moldavia and were recognized as Boyars (titled gentry) by the
successive regimes until the Russian revolution.
The young Marie Ochanoff and her widowed mother, Countess Eugenie
de Ochanoff - Goilov spent most of the year in Switzerland for health
reasons, only
returning home to Bessarabia for holidays. After Marie married
René Fiechter, the family settled in Alexandria
(Egypt) in the 1920's, only returning to live in Switzerland in the 1950's. Their last
visit to Moldavia took place in 1921. Unfortunately, it does not seem that
we have any close relatives left in that part of the world, and the name
might have died with Marie Ochanoff.
But her spirit survives in her many descendants, now
scattered around the world!
