Earlier this year The Algarve Bailliage of The Chaine des Rotisseurs received two new professional Members from Suites Alba Resort & Spa in Praia de Albandeira near Carvoeiro. This is a property of Luis Figo, the world famous Portuguese international footballer who unfortunately retired a few years ago. The two young Portuguese Chefs are Louis Anjos, the Executive Chef who won the Chef of The Year competition in  Portugal in 2012 and Joao Pereira, the assistant Chef who won the highly competitive and special "Bacalhau" Chef´s competition in Portugal the same year. In September this year he also successfully competed in the Young Chefs Competition of The Chaine in Istanbul. This duo is supplemented by Rui Coehlo, the experienced restaurant manager and completes our trio of hosts.

Suites Alba Resort & Spa -www.suitesalbaresort.com- is a relatively new project and was completed in 2007. It is set in a lovely location overlooking the Atlantic Ocean a few kilometres east of Carvoeiro and  because of it´s fairly hidden location, by being away from any major roads or residences is not very well known. The Moradinho Restaurant is of modern design overlooking the Ocean which very much enhances the attractiveness of the whole resort.

Louis Anjos joined Suites Alba in 2011 after spending periods at Vila Lara Resort, Hotel Villa Batalha and Vila Vita Parc as  head chef which was preceded by periods in restaurants in the more northern part of Portugal. During the last couple of years he has worked at
Michelin*+***  restaurants in London to further his skills and culinary expertise which he is going to put to use with us on October 12.  Earlier he had attended a number of cooking training schools and since 2007 has also been successful in Chef competitions within Portugal as mentioned above.

Joao Pereira joined Suites Alba in 2010 as Junior Chef after working as Chef in a few hotels and restaurants in earlier years. Recently he has also spent short periods of time at Michelin restaurants in San Sebastion, Spain and the UK.  Earlier he served as an apprentice in a number of hotels (incl. Reid´s Palace Hotel, Madeira) and learnt his trade at cooking training schools.

Rui Coehlo, the restaurant manager and sommelier joined the Suites Alba Resort in 2007 from Vila Vita Parc where he had been since 1999 as a restaurant manager and latterly as sommelier. In the latter nineties he had also worked in Carvoeiro after 7 years on the Princess Cruise Line. Since his early formal apprenticeship training he has continued with sommelier courses and restaurant management training.
