LUNCH AT "VIVENDO"
July 13th, 2013
VILA PALMEIRA, MEIA PRAIA, LAGOS
In
September 2012 some 30 members and guests enjoyed an excellent, exquisite and
tasty lunch at the Vivendo Restaurant of Confreres Vincent and Karin Winiker and
we´re back there again there on July 13 to enjoy their company and the culinary
gastronomic expertise of their Chef, Christoph Voigt.
The first floor "Restaurante Vivendo" is part of Vila Palmeira which was set up
by Karin and Vincent when they came to the Algarve in 1990. At that time on
Vincent´s retirement from Switzerland at the age of 65 (YES he is now 88
years of age!) they started with their first guest house which was followed
by the Vila Palmeira Hotel in 2000 and the Restaurante Vivendo in 2004/5.
Vincent has been a hotelier all his life and learnt his trade at the various
training facilities in his native Switzerland. He was Hotel Director in a number
of prestigious establishments in Switzerland before moving to the Algarve.
Vincent joined the Chaine des Rotisseurs in November 1969 and with Manfred
Matysik (an Honorary Bailli of the Algarve and now with The Chaine in India) he
was instrumental in re-establishing the Bailliage in the Algarve in 2004.
After Vincent opened the Restaurante Vivendo in 2004 he was lucky to find
Christoph Voigt who joined him as his Restaurant Chef on September 15, 2005.
Christoph and his small team (4 in total) as well as the Service personnel led
by Teresa have remained together almost unchanged over the years and they look
forward to spoiling us on Saturday, July 13. Christoph comes from the
"Westerwald" part of Germany fairly close to Wiesbaden and Bonn where he spent
his time learning to be a professional Chef. His career has taken him through
not only the best, large hotels in Wiesbaden but also to Petersberg which was
the Hotel and Restaurant of the German Government in Bonn. When he came to the
Algarve he spent time at Vila Vita including "The Ocean" Restaurant before
joining Vincent at Vivendo. Together Vincent and Christoph have selected a
delectable menu for us and the wines chosen to enhance the menu have been
enthusiastically approved by Rod Frew our V.Eschanson. We can therefore look
forward to receiving a lovely lunch on July 13. The start time for aperitifs is
12:30 and as always menu changes for dietary purposes can be accommodated if you
let us know in advance. Please bring your guests so that they can enjoy the
lunch too!
