FLYER

The next event, once again a luncheon, will take place on Saturday October 13 at the fabulous Sheraton Pine Cliffs Hotel in Albufeira (www.luxurycollection.com/algarve) which is run by James Munro, the General and Area Manager of Starwood Hotels & Resorts in the Algarve. The luncheon will be prepared by Fabien Martinez who is the Head Chef and Director of Food & Beverage and Culinary Operations. The wines are being supplied by Garrafeira Soares. Both the Sheraton and Garrafeira Soares have been very supportive of this event for the Chaine.

As most of you would know the Pine Cliffs Resort is a magnificent property on the cliffs overlooking the Atlantic east of Albufeira. Our luncheon will be held either at the Pavillion overlooking the cliffs and sea (weather permitting) or at the Pescador restaurant with lovely views across the gardens to the sea.

James Munro who comes originally from Inverness in Scotland has been responsible for all of the Sheraton/Starwood hotels (Pine Cliffs, Penina etc) in the Algarve since 2008. Previous to that he was Area Manager for Starwood Hotels & Resorts in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) which comprised some 14 hotels including 3 under construction. During his 12 years in the UAE he was also Area and General Manager for a number of countries and hotels. Prior to that and part of his 34 years of tenure with the ITT Sheraton/Starwood Group he had various executive assignments in Bulgaria, Turkey, Denmark and the UK.

Fabien Martinez, a french Chef, who will be directly responsible for our luncheon has had a very varied and chequered career since he obtained his French Culinary Degree in 1991. Later in 2007 he qualified as a Master Chef of France. Fabien joined  James at the Pine Cliffs Sheraton in September 2010 where he is responsible  with a team of 175 for all 7 restaurants.  Previously he worked as Executive Chef in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Qatar and Egypt and prior to that as Executive sous Chef in Lebanon, Philippines and Saudia Arabia. All of these positions were at very prestigious establishments. At the beginning of his career after completing his Culinary and Bachelor degrees in France he spent a year at the
3* Michelin Restaurant Bruneau Brussels (Jean Pierre Bruneau) followed by a year at the also 3* Michelin Restaurant L ´Arpege Paris (Alain Passard). This was followed by 3 1/2 years working as a consultant Chef for Michel Roux for Celebrity Cruises in the USA.

As you can see we have a very experienced Star Line-Up which should result in an exquisite and fine lunch to be remembered.
